New Legislation to Fight Seafood Fraud, Improve

May 10, 2013 — Catfish Farmers of America (CFA) today offered praise for the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service, which announced plans Wednesday to purchase up to $10 million in frozen U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish for federal food nutrition assistance programs, including charitable institutions.

New Legislation to Fight Seafood Fraud, Improve Safety

May 2, 2013 — The “Safety and Fraud Enforcement Act for Seafood” (HR 1012) introduced by U.S. Representative Ed Markey (D-MA) to fight seafood labeling fraud and improve seafood import inspections is gaining bi-partisan support. Congressmen Walter Jones (R-NC), Jo Bonner (R-AL) and eleven other House Members have co-sponsored the bill, to-date.
