U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish Certified Processor
TCI’s Certified Processor list identifies U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish processors who meet the highest quality standards for producing great-tasting U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Stringent quality controls adhered to by these processors (including taste-testing at the farm before harvesting and again at the processing plant before the fish are unloaded) ensure that consumers receive a premium product with superior flavor.
What It Takes:
Processors must meet the following criteria set by TCI in order to be included on the Certified Processor list:
1. Be located in the U.S. and listed on the industry’s monthly “Catfish Processing Report” used to monitor production, sales and inventory of the nation’s largest aquaculture sector.
2. Process grain-fed channel catfish, 100% farm-raised in the USA, and delivered live to the processing plant.
3. Be inspected and approved by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, making U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish the nation’s first and only seafood product to meet these strict standards and requirements for food safety and hazard controls.
4. Receive the majority of live fish from farms which use feed products from TCI Member Feed Mills.
